All Together Dead - Book Club Edition

All Together Dead - Charlaine Harris This one was just ok for me.It seems like the farther I get with Sookie the less and less I'm liking her and this whole story.I know that this is just supposed to be brain candy and not some life changing read, but this is turning sourly. I really enjoyed these books for what they were when I read the first few. Now, it seems Harris has gotten so hasty with her writing that she just throws everything in on the last minute and leaves you hanging. It's kind of insulting really. I know she purposely left it a cliffhanger to see what Quinn would do with that sharp piece of wood lying next to Andre's lifeless( even more lifeless than usual) body, but to throw it in at the last chapter, which was only a few pages, to just make sure the reader caught on to those subtle hints that Quinn told Sookie to leave so abruptly. Yeah, got it, thanks Harris. I didn't see that one coming and really needed you point it out that Andre is no longer among us. I'm really needing a pick me up after this one. It was such a Debbie Downer of a book. So the fellowship of the sun went all whacko and wanted to blow up the most popular vampire event of the southern states. Um yeah! DUH! If I was part of the fellowship of the sun I would totally do the exact same thing. The vampires should have kept it on the downlow where they were doing this summit and when. You'd think that after being in hiding for so long, they would have more common sense about this kind of stuff. Hmm.Then Sookie taking more of Eric's blood. Idk about that one. This whole story has gotten so incredibly whirlwind of a goose chase that's never going to end. And I really want it to.Like I said, I started out really like these books because they were fun, easy to read, and Sookie was just a great character overall. But then...meh, not so much. And how could she not have figured out that after the queen made that phone call to Jennifer and PURPOSELY waited to go down there that queen had her hitman to kill Jennifer. It seems Sookie is getting blonder by the book. And when exactly is Sookie going to be a vampire? I mean c'mon, let's just get that one over with already! Sheesh. She hangs out with them enough, knows their culture, is sometimes their pet, if not all the time, allows them to feed off of her, has sex with them, drinks/sucks their blood. It's like oh...my...gosh....how much longer can you possibly prolong this?? I think it would be a MUCH better story if Eric turns her, then he is her maker, or Bill either or I guess, and then it would be a CENTURY long love triangle between the three of them. AND that way she would be able to hear to vampire's thoughts as well! At least that's my theory and what I predict Harris would do...I don't really know if I want to continue on with this series. I know that I said that in my last review of #6, but it's like...where ELSE could Sookie go in the southern states for missions, tasks, or vampire agendas? Hasn't been a good little gopher and need a vacation? Have her go to Vegas, somehow meet up with more vampires and throw in a whole new vampire love interest. I'm getting sick of nothing happening in Bon Temps. Those characters are getting dried out.And what was with the Britlengens? And why did they have to come from a different dimension? I thought those characters were kick ass and want Sookie to visit them. Also with Quinn...why was he so upset with Barry when Barry (forcefully) asked that he didn't tell Sookie what he was? Harris made this into a MUCH bigger deal than it was. So what? He was a fighter. Could we not understand that from his musculature stature and his previous jobs? There was no reason for him to be THAT upset with Barry. I mean yes, if Quinn wanted to tell Sookie on his own, that's ok, fine whatever. But to make it seem like he was hiding some big deep dark secret....it was NO BIG DEAL and he shouldn't have kept it from her for so long. Grrr...I don't know if I'm liking Quinn and Sookie together...it just seems...something's off about it.
