This one did not capture my interest as the rest of them did. It seemed like there was always too much going on at the same time. I found myself re-reading passages over again because I kept going "huh?".****SPOILER****I was also discouraged to read that Bill, my manly man vampire, was captured and tortured. He also sullied his good name in my book by having indiscretions with his ex, Lorena. He was not a prominent figure in this book, as much as Eric was. There was a very interesting and enticing sex scene with him and Sookie that was like "phew! I need a cold shower!".I finally decided that I did like the character Alcide (Al-see), don't like the pronunication of his name, but overall he won my heart. It reminded of the Edward/Jacob battle for Sookie's heart. Alcide was definitely more healthy for Sookie and obviously the healthier choice, but Alcide caved and went back to his ex.That seemed to be an unnerving theme in this book, since right about now in my life the same thing is happening...hmmm...I also did not like the fact that we didn't see too much of Jason, Sookie's brother in this book. I missed him, along with the enchanting passages of Bill sweeping her off Sookie's feet.I think I'll continue with this series, but I hope it picks up. It seems like the same thing KEEPS happening! Boy in trouble, girl saves him. Girl in trouble, boy saves her. Town goes crazy, they both save the town.I want to learn more about Sam and other supernaturals! I hope Harris goes on to explain more about these unique characters.
